The Team
Michael
H. Manion
Mr.
Manion is a professional in international business development
with over 25 years of in-the-field experience as manager and
director.
Mr.
Manion developed the Latin American market for DHL Worldwide
Express initiating company formation and establishing offices in
15 countries from 1978 through 1983, and taking annual revenue
from 0 to $9 million. As Regional Sales and Marketing Manager he
installed customer service teams and coordinated worldwide
marketing efforts through seven regional advertising agencies. He
designed and implemented a frequency discount pricing system that
increased user volumes, defended major accounts and improved net
revenue per shipment.
As
Managing Director of DHL do Brasil from 1985 through 1989 he
increased market coverage from 7 to 26 cities and grew annual
revenue from $6 million to over $22 million, reduced cost per
shipment by 45% and cut legal expenses from $300,000 to under
$70,000 per year. The
legal/political situation was a major challenge in Brazil and
other countries due to the less than receptive stance of the
Ministries of Communications who were responsible for the postal
services and their regulated "monopoly" status.
Mr. Manion, through localized public relations efforts
helped turn around the adversarial climate into a cooperative
relationship.
Mr.
Manion has participated in a number of start-ups in the fields of
import/export, diamond mining, video production, entertainment,
computer retailing, investment services, wireless communications
system development, personal courier services and software
development.
His latest project marked the first commercial success in
the U.S. of a software tool developed in India.
He was responsible for 80% of company revenues worldwide in
1997 through
1999.
Mr. Manion is a founding sponsor of the Fernand Braudel
Institute of World Economics in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which is
dedicated to promoting economic development through privatization
and reform outside of the IMF inflate/devalue model.
Mr.
Manion holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management
from Metropolitan State
College,
Denver, Colorado and a Masters in International Management from
the American Graduate School of International Management
(Thunderbird) in Glendale, Arizona.
